1. NASA's Corona Ventilators license to Bharat Forge in Pune:
  • Companies in Pune, Hyderabad, and Bangalore have been licensed by NASA to manufacture ventilators designed for corona treatment.
  • The companies in India that got the license include Bharat Forge Ltd. of Pune, Alpha Design Technologies Pvt. Of Bangalore. Ltd. And Medha Savare Drives Pvt. Ltd. of Hyderabad.
  • Apart from Indian companies, the licenses have been issued to 18 other companies, including eight US and three Brazilian companies.
  • The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is an independent organization dedicated to space research.
  • NASA had developed a ventilator for patients in the United States at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California. The ventilator, developed by local engineers, is called Vital.
  • So within a month it was made and approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on April 30th. Vital is a device called Ventilator Intervention Technology Accessible Locally and its spare parts are available in the supply chain.
  • This ventilator is used to treat critically ill patients. Its design is flexible and can be modified.

2. La Liga football from June 11:
  • The Spanish Football League (La Liga) starts on June 11 after a three-month period. The 2020-21 season will begin on September 12, the Spanish Sports Council explained.
  • The Spanish Football Federation and La Liga have agreed to start the remaining 11 rounds of the two tournaments in Spain. This season will end on July 19.

5. Reliance demonstrates cheaper and better quality PPE kits than China:
  • Reliance Industries has started manufacturing these PPE kits at three but lower prices than China. Reliance Industries' Silvassa project is producing 1 lakh PPE kits per day.
  • Doctors, nurses, other medical staff as well as doctors need these PPE kits.
  • PPE kits imported from China cost more than Rs 2,000.
  • PPE kits manufactured by Alok Industries, a Reliance Industries company, cost just Rs 650.
  • Reliance Industries has also used indigenous technology in Corona's testing kits.
  • Reliance has also developed this indigenous testing kit with the help of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research.
  • So this kit is also many times cheaper than the testing kits of China and you can get the complete information of the patient within 45 minutes to an hour.
